Vessel History

Rebuilds Remeasured June 14, 1865. (160.66 x 33.5 x 11.5; 411.76 gross).
History Collided with steamer MAYFLOWER in Straits of Mackinac, in August, 1856; $700 loss.Collided with schooner ELLEN WHITE on Lake of Michigan in June,1857; $350 loss.
Dismasted by heavy squall off Grand Island, Lake superior, on september 19, 1868. Lost her foremast above the crosstrees, jib and head sails. Was towed to the Soo by propeller UNION, and then to Detroit by tug H.N MARTIN. Loss set at $2500.
Collided with schooner PILOT, anchored in Detroit River off Woodward Avenue, during violent wind storm, on July 7, 1861, sinking the latter.
Jettisoned cargo in Lake Erie, October 1864; loss at $5000
In collision with schooner ATHENIAN near Marquette, MI, December 1869; Loss to DESOTO, $400; to ATHENIAN, $300.
Disposition Stranded and ashore at Marquette, MI, December 12, 1869. Was reported going to pieces in spring, 1870, with a possibility that she might be gotten off. Final enrollment surrendered at Cleveland, OH, July 9, 1875, with notation, \"Vessel & papers lost.\" It is doubtful that she saw service after 1869.
