Vessel History

Rebuilds Conversion of three of her bulk holds into five oil tanks.
History Vessel was designed for Arctic service, and was christened on June 2, 1978. She was registered at St. Catharines, Ont., on June 7, 1978, and went immediately to a bareboat charter to Canarctic Shipping, Ltd., Ottawa, Ont. (a consortium composed of the Federal Government and several Canadian shipping companies).As (a) ARCTIC: On maiden voyage, outbound from Toledo, OH, with a cargo of corn, struck the Cherry Street Bridge on June 13, 1978. Suffered a thirty foot gash above the waterline to her port bow; went to Port Weller Dry Docks, Ltd., Port Weller, Ont., for repairs.
As (a) ARCTIC: Collided with ANCO STANE in Flushing, Netherlands on August 13, 1979 sustaining minor damage to her bow. Repairs to be made at Antwerp, Belgium.
Suffered a crankcase explosion while in the eastern Atlantic causing her to lie adrift until repairs were made. Incident occurred in late September.
Suffered bow damage at Nanisvik on August 28, 1981 while making dock there. After temporary repairs were made, she went to Antwerp for permanent repairs.
