History | Suffered severe bottom damage, October 10, 1964, by striking obstruction at Depot Harbor, Ont.Suffered fire in engine room while laid up at Port Colborne on February 12, 1975. Grounded in Kam River at Thunder Bay, Ont., on April 29, 1978. Grounding occurred near Great Lakes Paper Co. dock, where BARBER was headed with load of limestone. Freed about eight hours later with tug assistance. Collided with the LEWIS WISLON FOY just above the Soo Locks on September 15, 1981, suffering only minor scratches. A fire in the hold took firemen three hours to put out. No estimate on the damage given. She was docked at The St. Mary's Cement Co. in Bowmanville, Ontario in October of 1982. One of 14 vessels trapped in the icebound Detroit River during the winter of 1983. |
Disposition | Arrived in tow, in tandem with SAGINAW BAY, at Vigo, Spain, on August 8, 1985. Demolition began on August 9, 1985, by Miguel Martins Pereira, at Guixar-Vigo. |
