Vessel History

History At time of launch, BARKER was the largest vessel ever built entirely on the Great Lakes. First documented in August, 1976. A small fire was started by a welder's torch on January 24, 1980 ,while in winter lay-up at the Old Union Dock in Ashtabula, OH. The damage was minor. Laid up at DeTour, MI, since August 1982 and was scheduled to proceed to drydock for examination of possible hidden damage to her port rudder. Remained in DeTour for the winter.
