As JOHN J. BOLAND: Grounded at Drummond Island, St. Marys River, on June 23, 1972, causing $115,000 damages.Boom fell onto dock at Pulliam Power Plant, Green Bay, WI, on December 16, 1973, and was demolished; apparent cause was broken supporting cables.
Struck the breakwater at Ashtabula, OH on October 10, 1979 holing her bow. After about forty minutes, she was freed with the assistance of local tugs. She was too badly damaged to continue her voyage, therefore she offloaded her cargo of coal. Repairs were made at Niagara Industries of Ashtabula, OH. As SAGINAW: damaged rudder by striking bottom on the approach to Lock 7 of the Welland Canal, Thorold, ON on December 6, 2002. Proceeded to Hamilton, ON, for repair with the assistance of tug MISEFORD. Stuck in ice from April 4-7, 2003, off Marquette, MI. Freed with assistance from icebreaker CCGS SAMUEL RISLEY. Boom collapsed while loading coal at Thunder Bay, ON on December 31, 2011. Repaired in Thunder Bay, ON. |
