As A.M. BYERS: Sunk in collision with Str. E.M. FORD, April 9, 1956, 2 1/2 miles south of Algonac, MI, in St. Clair River, with 9,800 tons of limestone; no lives lost. Raised on May 9, 1956. Collision blamed on faulty rudder of FORD.As JACK WIRT: Struck concrete dock at Lower Lakes Coal Dock, Sandusky, OH, during snow storm, December 15, 1972; suffered bow damage. |
Disposition

Removed from documentation, January/February, 1974, sold Canadian for scrapping. Resold to Marine Salvage, Ltd., to Spanish shipbreakers. Departed Quebec on May 8, 1974, in tandem tow with BEN W. CALVIN, and arrived at Valencia, Spain, prior to June 7, 1974, for scrapping. |
