History Launched as WASHTENAW.Built as C1-M-AV1 class cargo vessel for U.S. Maritime Commission. Was to be acquired by U.S. Navy (AK-218), but ending of World War II made this unnecessary.
Operated, 1947, by Lykes Brothers Steamship Co., Inc., New Orleans, LA.
Sold on December 15, 1971 for \"non-transportation\" use for $41,000, and removed from documentation. Redocumented in May, 1979.
Disposition After fire broke out while under repair, October 20, 1982, at Everett, WA, towed about a mile offshore and sank.
