| History | Removed from documentation in August, 1975, as sold Canadian for scrapping. Sold to Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ont. Renamed MARINSAL and returned to service 1978. She left Quebec in late May 1980 for overseas shipbreakers. Arrived in tow at LaSpezia, Italy, on June 25, 1980. Scrapping began on July 2, 1980 by C.N. Santa Maria. Register closed on September 19, 1983 - sold to Italian buyers. Sold to Wilson Marine Transit Co. on April 9, 1957; resold the same day to Republic Steel Corp. Chartered to Canadian Coast Guard 1978 for use in Welland Canal shunter test program. As PETER ROBERTSON: Hit Arrowhead Bridge at Duluth, MN, October 2, 1973. Damaged both vessel and bridge. As MARINSAL: Struck wall below Lock #2, Welland Canal, on October 23, 1979. The following day a combination of cutting torch, oily rags, and leaking fuel from bow shunter produced a spectacular fire. |
