History As MERLE M. MCCURDY: In collision with PHILIP R. CLARKE opposite Grosse Point Farms, MI, on Lake St. Clair, December 8, 1974. Suffered approximately $250,000 damages.Struck bottom in St. Marys River on June 11, 1978, sustaining hull damage on port side. Repaired at American Ship Building yard, Lorain, OH.
Disposition Laid up at Buffalo on November 19, 1985. Winter 1988 towed from Buffalo to Ashtabula for scrapping. Planned scrapping by Triad Salvage halted by EPA intervention, vessel later towed to Port Colborne where she was scrapped in the Summer of 1989.
