History Built to operate as ferry between Drummond Island and DeTour, MI.As DRUMMOND ISLANDER II: Lost propeller in heavy ice and was removed from service December 16, 1976. Proceeded to the Soo Welding Co. at Sault Ste. Marie for shaft repairs, and attempts made to find missing propeller.
Ran aground near slip on April 25, 1979; freed by Coast Guard's NAUGATUCK.
One Engine destroyed on June 17, 1979, when it overheated and threw a rod.
Starboard engine failed December 17, 1982 temporarilly stranding ferry passengers at DeTour, MI; Allowed by the Coast Guard to run on one engine until December 19.
