History
|
As ROBERT KOCH: Struck the concrete abutment of Bridge 5 in the Welland Canal on September 29, 1981. She was leaving Lock 3 upbound and reportedly was caught in the prop wash from the downbound ALGOBAY. An inspection showed no damage to the ship's stem above the waterline, and the tanks were sounded and found to be dry. The KOCH finished her trip to Buffalo, passed down the canal and arrived in Clarkson the evening of October 1st. She did not load, and the next day was ordered to Hamilton, where she rested until the afternoon of the 6th. She then made a trip to Oswego, returned to Clarkson and lay there from October 9 until October 14, 1981. Another rest was taken at Hamilton from late on October 21st to the early morning of the 26th. |
