Vessel first enrolled at Port Huron, MI, April 30, 1891 (P.E. 148).Placed on temporary enrollments in Cleveland, OH (TE 97, April 24, 1916; TE 2, June 3, 1916). Registry changed to Panamanian by order of U.S. Shipping Board, February 24, 1917, to F.W. Fletcher Steamship Co. (Nicholas G. Psaki, President), of New York. As of January 6, 1917, had a $32,000 unpaid bill for conversion to salt water trade at Morse Dry Dock Co., New York.
In 1917, owned by Broadwater Steamship Co. (Republic Steamship Co., New York, operators), and used briefly in coastwise lumber and sugar trade with Cuba. Also required an additional $30,000 in repairs. As stated in letter dated June 28, 1919, after mortgage foreclosure, vessel owned by Broadwater Steamship Co., New York, and was denied permission to transfer vessel from Panamanian to Cuban registry by U.S. Shipping Board. Vessel was then at Havana, Cuba, in such poor condition as to be beyond profitable repair. |
