Rebuilds Converted to oil by American Ship Building Co., Lorain, OH, during the winter, 1969-1970. Tonnage change, July/August, 1970 (10291 gross - 6401 net). Converted to cement carrier at Fraser Shipyard, WI, 1991. New measures 503 x 67 x 30. Tonnage change (8018 gross - 5452 net)
History Bumped railroad bridge at Duluth September 13, 1973; no damage. Suffered rudder problems at Port Huron, MI, on June 6, 1978. Repaired at Lorain yard of American Ship Building Co. Sustained small hole in bow in March 1979, while sailing through thick ice in Lake Superior; damage discovered upon arrival at Escanaba, MI, on March 27. Sustained small hole in Lake Superior ice, April 1979, with minor repairs made at Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Laid up at Lorain, OH, on December 20, 1981. Departed under tow for Superior, WI, on October 29, 1989. Converted from a bulk carrier to a self-unloading cement carrier in 1991 and returned to service.
