As FRONTENAC: Suffered slight bow damage by striking pier at the Soo, about October 29, 1970. Bow repairs made at Fraser yard, Superior, WI.As FRONTENAC: Sustained major structural damage from running hard aground while entering Silver Bay, MN at about 2230 hours on November 23, 1979. After being strapped at the Silver Bay Coal Dock, she departed under her own power for the Fraser Shipyard of Superior, WI.
As FRONTENAC: Ran aground in heavy weather near Pellet Island, Lake Superior, on November 22, 1979. Refloated two days later, the ship was found to have extensive damage and was laid up at Fraser Shipyards, Superior, WI. No repairs were ever effected and it has been reported that the vessel is scheduled to be broken up. |
Disposition

Sold to the Fraser Shipyard of Superior, WI, in 1980 after suffering major structural damage in her grounding at Silver Bay, MN. Removed from documentation in April, 1980, as scrapped. Hulk sat in Superior; scrapping process completed in late fall, 1985. |
