History | During dense fog, stranded on south end of South Manitou Island, Lake Michigan, on November 4, 1903; scuttled to prevent pounding. Pumped out on November 6, 1903, then scuttled again. Abandoned on November 14, 1903, after breaking in two on November 10th. Vessel went to pieces that winter and was completely broken up by September 21, 1904. Was on voyage from Chicago for Ogdensburg, NY, with cargo of corn and general merchandise. Value of vessel estimated at $40,000, and cargo at $25,000, for a total loss of $54,000. |
