As EDWIN H. GOTT: Inspection at Two Harbors, MN, on February 12, 1979, during maiden voyage, revealed damaged side tank and loss of one of twin rudders, both apparently as a result of heavy ice. Out of service for repairs until April 1979. On April 23, 1979, vessel dropped anchor at Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to take on supplies and when ready to resume trip, anchor and about three hundred feet of anchor chain were found missing; able to continue trip.
Ran aground in the St. Mary's River on December 27, 1983. She floated off the rocky bottom of Middle Neebish Channel and proceeded to Gary, IN, where she was scheduled to unload the remainder of her cargo. |
