First enrolled at Philadelphia, PA, July 11, 1864.Commissioned by U.S. Navy on July 14, 1864 and served as guard boat off Fort Delaware, Pea Patch, Island, DE. On August 13, 1864, with tug ASTER and brig YANTIC, chased CSS TALLAHASSEE as far north as Nantucket Island, returning to Philadelphia on August 19, 1864. On March 13, 1865, assigned to patrol duty with Potomac Flotilla, St. Indigoes, MD. On July 30, 1865, towed by ferry boat WYANDANK to Norfolk, VA, with naval hospital patients. Decommissioned on August 12, 1865, and sold to Treasury Dept. on September 18, 1865. In 1874, stationed at Newport, RI; by 1876 stationed at Charlestown, SC; by 1880-81, being repaired at Baltimore, MD. In 1884, assigned to Oswego, NY.
First enrolled at Buffalo, NY, November 25, 1891, having been sold out of service on October 4, 1891. Enrollment transferred to Belfast, ME, on May 23, 1892; various home ports -- Boston, MA; Eastport, ME; New York, NY, followed. |
