Rebuilds Converted from tanker to dry bulk cargo carrier by American Ship Building Co., Lorain, OH. Mid-body built by Schlieker-Werft, (hull #555), Hamburg, Germany (710.75 x 75 x 34.58; 12626 gross - 9317 net).
History As PAUL H. CARNAHAN: Burned out main rotor five miles south of Detour Light, Lake Huron; towed to Lime Island by tug JOHN MCLEAN. Towed to Port Huron by steamer LEON FALK, JR.; to Detroit by tugs ATOMIC and LAURENCE C. TURNER. Returned to service November 10, 1969.
Disposition Cleared old GLEW yard Ecorse under own power August 21, 1986 for overseas scrapping. Arrived Quebec City August 24, departed behind Dutch tug SMIT LLOYD 109 with GEORGE M. HUMPHREY on September 3 arriving Kaohsiung, Taiwan on December 10, 1986.
