History | To West Coast, via Cape Horn, in 1907. Returned to Lakes, 1920-1927, then returned to West Coast. Oct. 21, 1906: sold to Puget Sound Navigation Co. and went to New York via the St. Lawrence River. Reached Seattle on March 30, 1907 after 64 day voyage via Cape Horn. (Brookes). June 19, 1907: entered Seattle-Bellingham-Vancouver service, Puget Sound Navigation, owners, Inland Navigation Co., operators (Brookes). 1909: was transferred to Seattle-Victoria night service, also served as substitute vessel on C.P.R. Seattle-Victoria-Vancouver route (Brookes). 1918-1919: training ship for Sea Training Bureau of U.S.S.B. 1926: sold to Puget Sound Navigation Co. and returned to the West Coast via Panama Canal; 44 days Manitowoc to Seattle. 1928: rebuilt at Houghton, WA, by Lake Washington Shipyards as sea-going auto ferry. Capacity 80-90 autos and 500 day passengers, 140 berths for night passengers. Seattle-Port Townsend-Victoria night service (Brookes). 1939: Seattle-Port Townsend route (Brookes). 1941: Port Angeles-Victoria route (Brookes). 1942: Summer service Seattle-Port Townsend-Port Angeles-Victoria days; returning to night runs in the fall (Brookes). June 28, 1947: replaced by new ferry CHINOOK. (Brookes) |
