Vessel History

History First enrolled in May, 1976.About 2 a.m. on Sunday, September 16, 1990 this vessel exploded at the Total oil dock in Bay City, MI. The accident claimed the life of one crewman. There were 20,000 barrels aboard and the fire lasted through September 18. The vessel appeared to be a total loss.
A crane has been erected in Bay City to dismantle the JUPITER. The engine has reportedly been sold to a company in new Bedford, MA. The hull section will be cut up for scrap.
