History Arrived in tow at Toledo, OH, passing upbound through Welland Canal, September 15, 1964, in tow of tug PAULINE HOLMES. Chartered to Bultema Dock & Dredge Co. in Spring, 1965, to tow railroad barge MANISTEE across Straits of Mackinac, temporarily replacing car ferry CHIEF WAWATAM.
Chartered to Hannah Inland Waterways, Chicago, IL, 1971-1972. (Name changed to JAMES A. HANNAH, May/June, 1971).
As JAMES A. HANNAH: Had towline snap while towing 280-foot oil barge, Lake Michigan, February 23, 1975. Blown onto breakwater at Milwaukee, off South Shore Yacht Club, in 60 m.p.h. gale winds. Estimated 6,000 gallons of oil leaked into lake.
