History Built under U.S. Maritime Commission contract as C4-S-A4 class cargo vessel. Purchased by Nicholson-Universal from James River Reserve Fleet in 1951.1947: American President Lines, Portland, OR, operators.
1949: Luckenbach Steamship Co., Portland, OR, operators.
As THOMAS F. PATTON: Struck lock at Sault Ste. Marie, MI, June 28, 1972; $66,000 loss.
Sustained minor damage, May 1978, when touched bottom on Watson's Reef, near DeTour, MI.
Disposition Departed Quebec City, September 8, 1981, in tow of tug FAIRPLAY IX, in tandem with CHARLES M. WHITE. Arrived at Karachi, Pakistan, prior to December 23, 1980, for scrapping. Removed from documentation in August, 1980, as sold to Danish buyers for scrapping.
