Rebuilds Converted to weather patrol vessel by Bethlehem Steel Co., East Boston, MA, in 1941-1942.
History Launched as ARTHUR R. LEWIS.Built for private U.S. citizens and requisitioned by the U.S. Shipping Board in 1917. Served with Naval Overseas Transportation Service, October 4, 1918-August 15, 1919, running between European ports.
In World War II, commissioned on loan to U.S.C.G. on April 2, 1942, serving on North Atlantic weather patrol out of Boston, MA, and Argentia, Nfld. Also took part in initial experiments
involving development and testing of loran system.
Transferred to U.S.C.G. on October 22, 1943, and stricken from Navy Register on October 30, 1943. Sold by government on March 11, 1946, for scrapping.
Disposition Scrapped by Patapsco Scrap Co. at Baltimore, MD, in 1946.
