History Vessel laid down as WAR WREN, under contract to the Cunard Steamship Co., Ltd., agent for the Shipping Controller, London, England. Requisitioned by the U.S. Shipping Board under the Urgent Deficiencies Act of June 13, 1917.Chartered by Dept. of Marine & Fisheries, Ottawa, Ont., in 1925, for use in supplying Hudson Bay stations; charter lasted to 1932.
As LAKE COMO: Ran aground just west of Point Matane, below Quebec, on St. Lawrence River, on way to coast; May 9, 1918. Released on May 25, 1918, and brought back to Buffalo Dry Dock Co. for repairs and camouflage paint job.
Disposition Wrecked near Cape Bauld, Nova Scotia, December 8, 1940, bound from Lewisport for Sydney, Nova Scotia.
