History Vessel laid down as WAR OAK, under contract to the Cunard Steamship Co., Ltd., agent for the Shipping Controller, London, England. Requisitioned by the U.S. Shipping Board under the Urgent Deficiencies Act of June 13, 1917.Seized by the Russians in Baltic Sea, November 1, 1944, as MEERO.
Disposition Broken up in 1948/1949. In July, 1940, nationalized as a part of Governmental \"Estonian Shipping\" by Soviet Union. On September 2, 1941, in service of Soviet Navy, bound from Kronstadt to Koivisto, detonated a mine and sank.
