| History | Built as C1-M-AV1 class cargo vessel for U.S. Maritime Commission. Commissioned by U.S. Navy on February 1, 1945; cleared Gulfport, MS, on February 24, 1945, arriving at Manus on April 5. Arrived in convoy at Subic Bay, April 24. Returned to Manus on June 1; departed for Samar, P.I., on June 7, unloading on June 28, returning to Manus on July 5. Departed on July 11 with aviation gas for New Zealand Air Force, from Lae to New Britain, arriving there on July 20. Made one voyage, Manus-Hollandia, returning with stock for repair in August, 1945, then sailed north to Samar and Subic Bay. After brief overhaul there in October, departed for Norfolk, VA, arriving there on December 23. Was decommissioned at Norfolk on January 18, 1946 and returned to Maritime Commission on January 25, 1946. |
