Rebuilds Tonnage change, 1948 (3918 gross - 2166 net).
History Launched as C1-M-AV1 class cargo vessel for U.S.Maritime Commission. Acquired by U.S. Navy on January 20, 1945 and commissioned on February 22, 1945. Arrived at Pearl Harbor on May 6, 1945 with cargo for Eniwetok, Saipan, and Guam. Returned to San Francisco on July 18, 1945; cleared there on August 13, with stops at Okinawa, Guam, Manus, Saipan, Eniwetok, and the Philippines. Returned to San Francisco on January 30, 1946, then sailed to Baltimore, MD, where she was decommissioned on April 2, 1946. Returned to Maritime Commission on April 4, 1946.
Disposition Foundered in position 18.35N x 66.29W, twenty miles off Puerto Rico after suffering a rupture below the waterline on December 14, 1972; nineteen of twenty-four man crew lost. Was on voyage Santo Domingo for San Juan, Puerto Rico.
