History | First enrollment issued at Toledo, OH, July 28, 1838. Damaged by a "whirlwind" off Ashtabula, OH, in October 1840; later repaired. |
Disposition | Sunk in collision with schooner JOHN PORTER, June 7, 1847, off piers at Conneaut, OH, Lake Erie. Safe raised from wreck on June 23. Schooner EDWARDS visited the wreck site in 1855 and recovered anchors, chains, and copper cargo. On September 27, 1876, divers raised the ship's bell and more copper and prepared to blow the wreck. |
