History | As CHI-CHEEMAUN: Suffered damage to hinged bow on August 29, 1976, when a gust of wind drove her into her slip at the Tobermory dock too fast. Vessel had to be removed from service and sent to the shipyard at Collingwood, Ont., for repairs. Reentered service on September 3 after completion of temporary repairs, with permanent repairs delayed until after closing of season.Towed to Bay Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, WI, by tug WILFRED COHEN, with rudder and propeller damage; dry docked, then passed the Straits of Mackinac eastbound on July 11, 1981, having been repaired. |
