Vessel History

History Built as C1-M-AV1 class cargo vessel for U.S. Maritime Commission. Acquired by U.S. Navy on June 7, 1945 and commissioned on July 3, 1945. Departed New Orleans for Pacific on August 6, 1945 and served in Philippines, Australia, and Japan sectors. Decommissioned on January 30, 1946, at Yokosuka and transferred to U.S. Army for continued service in Japanese area. Reacquired by Navy on July 1, 1950 and after refitting at Mitsubishi Shipyard, Kobe, Japan, was assigned to Military Sea Transportation Service on February 28, 1951. Continued to serve in Far East (Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia), from 1951 through 1958. Was inactivated by the Navy on July 16, 1958 and transferred to the Maritime Commission on March 27, 1959.
Disposition Dropped from Record in 1960 and presumed scrapped.
