Vessel History

History First enrollment issued at Sandusky, OH, May 29, 1875. First four-masted vessel on the Great Lakes. September 1875, went shore at Twin Rivers, $1,500 loss. May 19, 1890, involved in collision near Mud Lake in the St. Mary's River, sunk and raised.
Disposition Sunk in collision with schooner IRONTON, September 26, 1894, off Presque Isle, MI, Lake Huron; five lives lost on schooner. Schooner was in tow of propeller C.J. KERSHAW, along with schooner MOONLIGHT; the latter vessel rescued crew of OHIO. IRONTON also sank. OHIO was downbound from Duluth for Ogdensburg, NY, with 900 tons of flour and feed.
