History Vessel laid down as WAR METEOR for Cunard Steamship Co., Ltd., agent for the Shipping Controller, London, England. Requisitioned by the U.S. Shipping Board under Urgent Deficiencies Act of June 13, 1917.
Disposition Stranded south of Rorvik, Norway, September 16, 1931, on voyage from Antwerp for Archangelsk, in ballast. Later raised, but declared a constructive total loss. Scrapped at Stavanger, in 1932.
