History Towed out of Toronto, June 28, 1971, by tug HERBERT A., for service as bunking vessel in Detroit-St. Clair River area, still under tow of HERBERT A. Operated under title of Big D Line, Ltd., between Shell plant at Corunna, Ont., and Detroit area. In October, 1971, service discontinued and vessel laid up at Port Colborne, Ont. Picked up by newly-purchased tug CHRIS M. in November, 1971, and laid up at Port Stanley, Ont.As EASTERN SHELL, collided with and sank auxiliary schooner MONT BLANE, September 2, 1965, 20 miles downstream from Treis Riveras, P.Q., St. Lawrence River.
Disposition Scrapped at Hamilton, Winter, 1973-74.
