History | As SAM LAUD: Grounded June 28, 1975 on a shoal south of Sturgeon Bay, WI; taken to Bay Shipbuilding for extensive repairs.Grounded while entering Buffalo harbor on July 4, 1976. Proceeded to Lorain, OH, for repairs to some bottom plates. Ran aground on November 15, 1981 above Rock Cut, West Neebish Channel, in the St. Mary's River, bound from Duluth for Zilwaskee, MI, with potash. She was lightered, reportedly into the ADAM E. CORNELIUS and was released the following day by tugs from the Soo. Ran aground off the Augsbury dock at Ogdensburg, NY, on October 4, 1983. She freed herself later that day without apparent damage. |
