Vessel History

History Arrived at Lauzon, Quebec, in August, 1961, with hatches uncut. Formally commissioned at Montreal, Quebec, on September 10, 1961.
Disposition Sunk in collision with Greek-flag APOLLONIA, September 5, 1964, in fog, about sixty miles below Quebec City in St. Lawrence River. Vessel sank in seventy feet of water; three lives lost. Vessel bound from Seven Islands, Quebec, for Buffalo, NY, with 25,000 tons iron ore at time of loss.
