MCGIFFIN: Ran onto the embankment above Bridge Ten in the Welland Canal in late November 1979 after a malfunction of the bridge delayed its raising for the downbound approaching vessel. No damage.An explosion on the morning of January 24, 1991 at lay up in Hamilton injured two men. The employees of Harbour Ship and Boiler Repair were doing welding repairs in the lower belt tunnels. A leaking acetylene tank caused the explosion when the torches were lighted. |
