History | Vessel was taken to coast in September 1906, though owned by Chesbrough Steamship Co., and registered out of Marquette, MI. Sprung a leak during severe storm and sank about six miles from Fire Island Lightship, New York, Atlantic Ocean, on July 24, 1909. Crew of seventeen took to two lifeboats and were towed to lightship by steamer WINIFRED. The following day the steamer HOWARD picked up the crew and took them to Boston, MA. Vessel was bound from Baltimore, MD, for Boston with coal at time of loss. |
