History Lost Canvas, sprung leak, and driven ashore near Alabaster, MI, at Whitestone Point, Lake Huron, May 30, 1889. U.S. Life Saving Service crew from Ottawa Point and tug MUSIC saved crew of four. Vessel was bound from Snow Island for Port Huron with cargo of lumber and telegraph poles. Vessel valued at $5000, cargo at $2500. Final enrollment surrendered at Port Huron, MI, on September 30, 1889.
