History As W.J. CONNERS: Aground six miles east of Erie, PA, Lake Erie, on June 20, 1939.Taken to Gulf Coast, 1942, via Mississippi River and placed on supply run between San Francisco - Alaska. After conversion to repair ship, in 1943, taken to Pacific Theatre of War; was first U.S. vessel into Manila after its recapture in 1944.
Disposition Scrapped in 1957.
