History As ROBERT C. NORTON: Grounded in Black Rock (NY) Ship Channel, on July 31, 1972. After lightering by steamer G.A. TOMLINSON, released on August 4, 1972.As BUCKEYE: Grounded in Middle Neebish Channel on April 20, 1978, when could not determine position amid shifting winter navigation aids. Only minor damages sustained, but Coast Guard survey disclosed more serious damages from other causes which had to be repaired before vessel could re-enter service.
As barge, in tow of tug OLIVE L. MOORE, grounded in Amherstburg Channel, Detroit River, on May 3, 1981. Released same day.
Disposition Scrapped in 1995, Lake Calumet, Chicago.
