| Rebuilds | Converted to troop transport at Wilmington, DE, 1918. Reconstructed as passenger ship by Davie Shipbuilding & Repair, Ltd., Lauzon, P.Q., 1923 (322.75 x 48.16 x 19; 5528 gross - 3096 registered). |
| History | Built for overnight connecting service between Providence and New York by Central Vermont and Grand Trunk Railways, but latter pulled out. Vessel lay at anchor off Wilmington, DE, for about a year, then was towed to Central Vermont dock at New London, CT, and laid up. Sold to U.S. Navy on January 11, 1918, commissioned there on January 28, then departed for Wilmington, DE, on February 14, 1918 for conversion to troop ship. Cleared New York in June, arriving at St. Nazaire, France, on June 21, 1918. There she joined Cross Channel Fleet, ferrying troops between England and Continent. Departed Plymouth, England, on May 30, 1919 and arrived at New York on June 15. Decommissioned at Plymouth, England, on May 30, 1919 and arrived at New York on June 15. Decommissioned at Hoboken, NJ, on September 12, 1919, and was sold out of service on August 13, 1920.While owned by Canada Steamship Lines, was on Saguenay-St. Lawrence River cruise service. As USS NARRAGANSETT (SP 2196): Ran aground on January 31, 1919, on Isle of Wight, bound from France for Southampton, and was out of service for two months. |
| Disposition | Sold to Jos. de Smedt, shipbreakers, at Antwerp, Belgium. Arrived there under tow, with PASSENGER 2 (ex TADOUSSAC) on June 9, 1966, for scrapping. |
