Vessel History

Rebuilds Dimension & tonnage change, 1921 (221.16 x 42.16 x 24.58; 2097 gross - 1217 net). Reconstructed as freighter, 1935 (1685 gross - 965 net).
History Constructed with ice-breaking capabilities; maiden voyage from Manitowoc to Chicago on December 6, 1915. Chartered to Lake Carriers' Association in April, 1916, to break ice in St. Marys River. Sold to Imperial Russian Government on March 29, 1917, and cleared Manitowoc for Montreal on May 10, 1917. Collided with U.S. Navy destroyer passing through Panama Canal. During interim, Russian Revolution occured; vessel seized by U.S. Marshal and tied up at Navy Yard, San Francisco, CA. Sold to Pere Marquette in 1921, and placed on Milwaukee-Ludington-Manistee run.
Disposition Foundered during gale in North Atlantic Ocean, reportedly off coast of South Carolina, on December 16, 1943. Of the 63 aboard, 34 were lost.
