Vessel History

Rebuilds Converted from ferry to supply boat for service at Soo, 1917. Reduced to floating workshop; engines and boilers removed, 1947. Redocumented tonnage, 1957 (384 gross - 384 net); rig changed to barge. Reduced in size, 1960 (98.58 x 30 x 7.5; 127 gross - 127 net). Rig changed to oil-driven piledriver, October, 1974.
History Built as ferry for service across Niagara River, from Ferry Street, Buffalo, NY, to Fort Erie, Ontario.Converted to supply boat for service at Soo Canal, in 1917.
As FRONTIER: Sunk while servicing steamer WILLIAM J. OLCOTT, in St. Marys River, on June 19, 1937; two lives lost. The OLCOTT and tug IOWA rescued nine other crewmen. Raised by Great Lakes Towing Co., repaired, and put back into service.
Removed from documentation, January, 1949; redocumented in 1957.
Disposition Dropped from enrollment in November, 1980, as \"abandoned.\"
