Rebuilds Converted to hardwood carrier by Marinette Marine Corp., Marinette, WI, in 1946 (103.42 x 32 x 5; 173 gross - 141 net). Tonnage change, 1972 (136 gross - 92 net).
History Built as LCT-203.As OUTER ISLAND: With one engine out, and buffeted by
gale-force winds, blown ashore near Green, MI, six miles west
of Ontonagon, on December 16, 1972. Four crew members jumped
ashore; vessel returning to Bayfield, WI, from logging
operations near Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Released and entered
Ontonagon under own power on December 23, where she settled,
ice-encased, near coal site of Hoerner-Waldorf Co., not far
from Ontonagon River highway bridge. Hull had been damaged by
dynamiting when released from shore. After more ice removal,
vessel was raised by January 30, 1973, to spend winter at
Ontonagon.
