First enrollment issued at Buffalo, NY, May 12, 1854. Ran aground on a reef off Racine, WI, on October 29, 1855, $3,000 loss. In collision with and sunk the schooner COLONEL CAMP off the Manitou Islands on September 20, 1856. Lost man overboard in Lake Huron in September 1859. Ran aground at Long Point, Lake Erie, on November 29, 1862. Broke engine while traveling on Lake Huron in September 1868, $3,000 loss. Broke machinery while transiting the Straits of Mackinac in July 1869, $2,300 loss. In October 1869, damaged in a collision with steamer DOVE in the St. Clair River. In collision with steamer GREAT WESTERN at Detroit in November 1869. Crankpin broke on Lake Erie in September 1870, $275 loss. Driven ashore in northwest corner of Presque Isle, five miles north of Marquette, MI, Lake Superior, on October 24, 1887. Enrollment surrendered at Buffalo, NY, November 22, 1887, as total loss. Vessel gotten off the following spring and redocumented at Port Huron, MI, on April 4, 1889, with same dimensions and tonnage. |
