History Acquired by U.S. Navy, April 17, 1945, on loan-charter basis, at Port Houston and converted to Navy use. Commissioned on April 22, 1945. Arrived at Leyte Gulf, July 17, 1945 and operated in Philippine Islands. Departed there November 9, 1945; transited Panama Canal, December 6, 1945, bound for Norfolk, VA. Decommissioned at Mobile, AL, January 23, 1946, and returned to U.S. Maritime Commission. Placed in National Defense Reserve Fleet until sold in 1971.Built as C1-M-AV1 class cargo vessel for U.S. Maritime Commission.
Disposition Sold on December 15, 1971, for $35,000, to Pyramid Ventures Group, Inc., New Orleans, LA, for \"non-Transportation\" use.
