History Reportedly was first steel steamer to Chicago direct from Europe, arriving at Chicago with cargo of cement from Liverpool, England on maiden voyage, June 29, 1888.Stranded on East Charity Shoal, Lake Ontario, on December 4, 1897, with cargo of wheat from Fort William, Ont. Released to underwriters by Donnelly Towing & Salvage Co., Ltd., on December 16, 1897, and towed stern-first into Kingston, Ontario, where she was repaired over the winter.
Disposition Sunk by collision in Bristol Channel, April 18, 1919, bound from Cardiff, Wales, for Bordeaux with cargo of coal.
