Vessel History

History First document issued on June 20, 1960. Trapped in the Manitowoc River at launch; additional space had to be excavated to allow RYERSON to turn around. Set cargo record of 25,018 tons of iron ore on August 28, 1962, which stood for three years. In lay-up in 1986-87, 1995-96, and 1998-2006. Last steam-powered vessel built on the Great Lakes and also the last built that was not a self-unloader. Laid-up at Fraser Shipyards in Superior, WI from 2009-2022. Towed for lay-up at Conneaut, OH, in 2022.
