Vessel History

History Commissioned on June 21, 1943. Towed to Cleveland, OH, in July, 1959, to replace USS GAR as naval reserve training vessel. Reclassified AGSS-224 on December 1, 1962; reclassified IXSS-224 on June 30, 1971. Stricken from Navy List on December 15, 1971. Used as museum ship at East 9th Street, Cleveland, OH, thereafter.25th anniversary this year (1984)- Sub Vets of World War II held their regional convention in Cleveland in April in her honor.
