History Rig - FrigateCommissioned on September 8, 1944. Decommissioned at Cold Bay, AK, on September 9, 1945, and loaned to USSR under Lend-Lease. Returned to U.S. at Yokosuka, Japan, on November 14, 1949. Decommissioned on April 30, 1952, and loaned to Japan on October 1, 1953, as KAEDE (PF-13). Reclassified PF-293 by Japan on September 1, 1957. Stricken from U.S. Navy List on December 1, 1961, and transferred outright to Japan on August 28, 1962. Reclassified as non-operational training ship on March 31, 1966.
Built as S2-S2-AQ1 class frigate under U.S. Maritime Commission contract.
